Hi there! my name is Dalit Steinbrecher, don’t feel bad if you
can't pronounce my name, even in Isreal (where I was born) it's an
uncommon name. I'm a product designer currently based in New
York....

3Drawing
3Drawing is a prototype for an AR app that allows people to create
3d sketches, the app is intended for artists, designers, or anyone
that want to create in 3d. 3Drawing was my first attempt at
tackling user-experience in the AR space, and as such was really
challening and an amazing learning experience for me. I started
with research that helped me answer a few questions:
1. What are the drawing AR apps that exists now? and what is the
user experience there?
2. Who are my user? what are their needs?
3. What kind of gestures exists in the AR space?
This prototype helped me understand the flow better, the
problems, and the experience. I continued and created a
medium-fidelity prototype. I wanted to get a better sense of
reality (as possible) so I added the device, environment, and
the user's hands. In addition, I wanted to get feedback from
potential users. So I made a short video that explains the flow
and features in more details. I sent the Figma link and the
following video to potential users:
The tool is intended for designers and creators, so for my user
testing, I only let graphic designers, animators, and Ux/UI
designers participate. I sent them the prototype without fully
explaining it and let them experience it on their own. The users
completely understood the purpose and the idea behind the
design. “It looks like a fun tool for creators! I don’t know any
tools currently that give users the flexibility to create in 3d,
so this idea is spot on.” The users intuitively understood the
flow and stated that they would love to use it in their work. A
couple of good questions arose: which AR devices will this be
used on? What other AR use-cases are relevant for this tool?
In the end, I created a high fidelity prototype:
Throughout the process, I always thought "what are the practical
limits of current AR technology on mobile devices?" but AR is a
new environment that is beyond our phone or iPad screens. I
think that I and other creators really miss creating with our
hands but I understand the importance of digital creation. I’m
sure that AR is the perfect opportunity to create an
environment that combines both worlds. This lead me to think
that if the technology today would allow it, we will use our
hands and real-life tools to create designs for all mediums, so
I made one more short example of this possibility
